Hello Beautiful!
So, you are expecting! Congratulations! Your body is so amazing already and now it's growing a whole other human. Make sure you are giving yourself grace and staying hydrated.
I wanted to start this off with an introduction of myself and my goals for my business. My name is Sara Engle, I have been married since 2013, I'm a mother to one little girl (2016) and a little boy (2019-2020) who gained his wings at 6 months old. We also have 3 pets, Juno, Mars and Echo. I grew up in Venezuela and Ecuador from ages 3-18. I couldn't have asked for a better childhood than what I received and the richness of growing in a different culture. That being said I am also fluent in Spanish while it is a touch rusty in the medical terms department. I made the decision to start a doula program after my third Godchild was born, I had been present for all three of my best friend's babies. All of whom are my very heart and soul. But there was something about his birth that spurred a stirring in my heart. I don't know if it was that he was the first baby born after my son passed that I had such strong love for, it may have been that I was a more active help during labor for my best friend helping her with everything from bathroom breaks to getting her snacks or the fact I got to cut his umbilical cord and be one of the very first to hold him. But regardless of the reason that stirring in my heart didn't fade. I told my husband about how I was feeling, and he encouraged me to do my research and find the best program that fit my needs seeing that I was still working full time.
I ended up choosing MaternityWise Institute and I actually am doing the combo training which will certify me to be a birth doula, postpartum doula and lactation consulate so I can not only help mothers through labor but also still be there for them as they navigate their new season life.
The goal that I have for myself and for my business is to grow and help as many mothers as possible. I want to look back and know that I have done the best that I can to provide a safe environment for my clients. I want to be the person my clients know they can rely on for their questions, their fears and their encouragement. Someone described being a doula as being a childbirth coach and I love that. Helping moms become a strong advocate for themselves and their birth is the top priority for me. My job is not to tell mom what to do, or to tell their birth partner what to do. My job is support and encouragement.
I hope you will continue to join me on this journey as I grow and learn.
Until next time,
Sara Engle
